The Ryan Séguin Peer Support Program, previously known as the Side by Side Peer Support Program, was established in 2019 at the University of Ottawa to address the high levels of mental illness among medical students as well as the barriers in accessing support services. Up to 73 Peer Supporters have since been trained annually with roles of proactively reaching out to classmates, providing basic counselling and referring to professional services as needed.

As the program has continuously grown over the past 3 years, we hope to formally assess mental health outcomes and use of professional services. For this purpose, we invite you to participate in a two-part anonymous online survey that will take under 10 minutes to complete. By proceeding with the survey, you are consenting to use your anonymous responses for program evaluation purposes.

Your participation is very important to us in efforts to further meet the mental health needs of our student population. At the end of the survey, you will be redirected to a separate page for a chance to win one of two 50$ gift cards of your choice.
