HWDSB is currently in the process of developing its elementary and secondary calendars for the 2025-2026 school year. We are seeking input from parents/guardians, students, staff, and community members on key dates included in the DRAFT Elementary and Secondary calendars.
Your input helps shape the calendars; for example, as a result of student and parental input last year, we have scheduled an instructional day after the exam period and end of semester Professional Activity Day in the secondary calendar to be used to review the final assessment and evaluation of courses.

The Ministry of Education requires school boards to develop a school year calendar that includes 194 instructional days between September 1 and June 30. Of those 194 days, up to seven (7) are required to be Professional Activity (PA) Days and up to 10 can be designated as examination days for secondary schools.

Based on stakeholder input, the calendar will then be finalized by the Board of Trustees and submitted for approval to the Ministry of Education.
