Introduction

The Mid Island Child Care Planning Collaborative (Lantzville, Nanaimo, Parksville, Qualicum Beach and the Regional District of Nanaimo), in partnership with the Snuneymuxw, Stz'uminus, and Snaw-Naw-As Nations, is taking on the task of assessing the needs for child care services in our respective communities. Based on the information gathered, a regional child care strategy will be created, with strategic directions for each community. We need to hear from you!

The purpose of this survey is to understand, from the perspectives of those most responsible for the operating of child care facilities, the current and anticipated child care service gaps and needs as well as vulnerabilities that children experience in our community.

The survey is to be completed by the Director, Manager, or Owner of child care facilities located in the Mid Island region. Ideally, only one person from each child care facility should respond. We do encourage you to forward this survey to other Directors, Managers, or Owners of child care facilities in the Mid Island region, if they are not aware of this survey.

The survey includes questions about your child care facility, program, staffing, and early childhood development support capacity. You will be asked to provide responses for each of the facilities you are in charge of (for up to two facilities).

This survey takes approximately 20 minutes to complete. Please skip any questions you are unable to answer, and move on to the next one. Your responses will be summarized along with those of others; therefore, your personal anonymity will be maintained.

Personal information you provide on this (survey/questionnaire) is collected pursuant to the Community Charter, and will only be used for the purposes of evaluating this (project/proposal/issue). Your personal information will not be released except in accordance with the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act. Questions about the collection of your personal information may be referred to the Legislative Services Department at (250) 755-4405, or via email at foi@nanaimo.ca.

Participating in this survey is entirely voluntary and you may skip any questions you do not want to answer and end the survey at any time.
