Sunnybrook's Youth Safety Lab is a one-day program designed by students to explore personal and community safety.

The morning's focus will be on primary prevention strategies provided by the updated P.A.R.T.Y. (Prevent Alcohol & Risk-Related Trauma in Youth) Program. Through the integration of harm-reduction principles, students will gain valuable knowledge and tools to manage risk and make informed decisions in order to avoid traumatic injury. Students will learn first-hand from people living long-term with injury, from front line health care professionals and first responders.

The afternoon will focus on secondary prevention strategies including certification in STOP THE BLEED®. This course will enable students to develop confidence and competence in tangible life-saving skills to address critical bleeding incidents. Students will learn how to identify bleeding, and control it with compression, wound packing and tourniquet application.

Students will leave the Youth Safety Lab armed with new awareness, knowledge and skills to prevent and manage injury if it occurs.

Registration takes place in the spring and fall seasons.
